In my opinion, this was a very well written and all around good memoir.  It kept me interested and had my attention throughout the whole reading.  It's a memoir because it goes in detail in explaining a certain situation or event or person that has had an impact on your life.  This author tells the story of when he went to visit his dad when he knew he was about to die and throughout the story we learn more of the authors relationship with his father and where they stand today.  This memoir sparked memories of my childhood, not the same kind of memories though.  The author of this story clearly has bad memories of his childhood with his father, I on the other hand, have very good memories of my childhood with my father and the rest of my family.
